 The children's section of the annual Vegas Valley Book Festival is the largest children's literary event in Las Vegas. Enjoy nationally recognized authors, illustrators, and storytellers; local authors; informational booths; exhibitions; hands-on activities; theatrical performances; free books; costumed characters; library card sign-ups; and much more. Walter Dean Myers, National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, will make an opening keynote presentation at 10 a.m. in the auditorium - "Reading Is Not Optional." Ismael Cruz Córdova, who plays the new Latino neighbor, Mando, this fall on "Sesame Street," will make his festival debut with Elmo. Internationally acclaimed author, actor and storyteller Antonio Sacre will make bi-lingual presentations. Two-time Grammy Award-winner Bill Harley will tell stories. Celebrity Chef Charles Mattocks will make a motivational presentation. Enjoy live music by the Grammy Award-winning Okee Dokee Brothers. Meet featured authors and illustrators Michael Buckley, Adam Gustavson, Heidi Joulios, Bethanie Deeney Murguia, Elisha Cooper and many more.
