I Like to Sing

From early in the morning to when the stars all shine
I have got a song in this head of mine
Sometimes I sing it softly, sometimes right out loud
Sometimes when I’m all alone, sometimes in a crowd

CHORUS
I like to sing (la la la la)
Open up my mouth a song comes out
I raise my voice (la la la la)
Make a joyful noise and sing

When I was a baby on my mama’s knee
Everybody worried, what was wrong with me?
‘Cause I would scream my head off, I’d do it all day long
But I was only practicing my little baby song

CHORUS

I got some vocal chords
I got a pair of lungs
I got a great big mouth
That’s where I keep my tongue
Well, they all work together
When I tell them to
‘Cause there’s nothing I like better
Than to sing a song for you

CHORUS

Every creature’s got a song, listen you will hear
Whales out in the ocean, mosquitoes in your ear
Wolves out in the wilderness, dolphins in the sea
Hooting, howling buzzing, growling
One big symphony

They like to sing (la la la la)
Open up their mouths a song comes out
They raise their voices (la la la la)
Make some joyful noises and sing

Grownups Are Strange

Yes, that’s true, but kids are too.

Yeah listen to me now gather ‘round,
All of you kids don’t you make a sound
‘Cause I’m gonna tell ya I’m gonna give you the news
Talk about something that could happen to you
I’m talkin’ ‘bout grownups, what they call adults
They’re very strange but it’s not their fault
‘Cause once they were children, they were as good as gold,
But then they got weird ‘cause then they got old

Yeah, grownups are strange that’s a fact,
But there’s just goin’ forward, you can’t go back
Grownups are weird, yes that’s true,
Someday that could happen to you

Now grownups get to be in charge,
They get to stay up late, they get to drive their cars
They make the rules and they say what’s what,
And they can talk until they drive you nuts
But something happened since they were kids,
‘Cause their brains don’t work as well as they did
You ask them a question, you think they’re there
Til the say “Huh, what?” and give you a stare

Well grownups are strange that’s a fact,
But you got to go forward, you can’t go back
Grownups are weird, yes that’s true,
Someday that’s gonna happen to you

Yes sooner or later, things will change
You’ll star eating weird food, you’re acting strange
You’ll know it’s come, you’ll have a clue
When you start saying things that were said to you
Like: “Stop fooling around!” “Make your bed!”
“Haven’t you heard one word I’ve said?”
“I don’t want to tell you one more time!”
“Pick-up your clothes before I lose my mind!”

Yeah, grownups are strange that’s a fact,
But there’s only goin’ forward, you cannot go back
Grownups are weird, yes that’s true,
Someday that’s gonna happen to you

Yeah ‘cause I made a promise when I was a kid
I would never grow up no matter what I did
I did pretty well for twenty years or so
But then something happened, and what do you know?
Well now I’m strange, that’s a fact
I have been going forward, I can’t go back
Now I’m weird, yes that’s true
Ha-ha-ha, it’s going to happen to you.

Well grownups are strange that’s a fact,
But you got to go forward, you can’t go back
Grownups are weird, yes that’s true,
Someday that’s gonna happen to you

Mom and the Radio

Every time we’ve got someplace to go
My mom and I fight about the radio
She wants her station, I want mine
She says it’s her car, tough luck, don’t whine

The DJ says these songs are solid gold
But everyone they play’s about a million years old
One after another on and on
What makes it worse is my mom sings a long
She sings along and she sings

CHORUS
Doo waa diddy baby
My mom’s music drives me crazy
Doo waa diddy baby
And she don’t care

I got her to listen to my favorite band
She said "That’s just a bunch of noise that I can’t stand"
She turns the radio back to where she wants it to be
And starts to sing again, way off key
My mom sings off key
"Mom please stop it. Please," I cry
Cause everybody’s looking at us as we drive by
She rolls the window down, she doesn’t care
I sink down in my seat like I’m not there
I wish I wasn’t there, when she sings…

CHORUS

I promise when I get older
I will not be so weird
I promise if I have kids
I won’t make them want to disappear

The worst finally happened I’m telling you all
I was in school last week, walking down the hall
I was with my best friend, and I started humming some tune
When he looked at me like I came from the moon
I asked him what’s the matter, he said,
“What do you mean? What’s the matter with you?”
Suddenly I realized I was doing it too
"Oh no. Please help me. Someone," I said
My mom’s dumb songs are stuck in my head
They're in my head, and I'm singing…

CHORUS (2 times)

Is Not Is Too

I’ve got a sister, she is nine
She likes to argue all the time
What’s more unfortunately
She likes to argue most with me
I say black, then she says white
I say day then she says night
My mom says why can’t you agree
I say it’s her fault,
don’t blame me

CHORUS
Is not, is too
Is not is not, is too, is too
Is not, is not, is not, is not
Is too, is too, is too

No matter what I say or do
It seems that I just can’t get through
I tell her “Something’s wrong with you”
She never sees my point of view
I yell it loud so she can hear
I yell it loud into her ear
I could yell all day and night
She won’t see what I say is right

CHORUS

One day I guess we went too far
When we were yelling in the car
When we got home my mother said
The two of you go right to bed
From my room I heard her call
My sister talking through the wall
“It’s all your fault we’re stuck inside!”
"Here we go again," I cried

CHORUS

My mom said
“You two drive me bats”
I said, "Go tell my sister that
She said, “No, it takes both of you to argue just the way you do
If you won’t listen you are bound
To watch your fight go round and round
Instead of saying “Is not, is too”
Why don’t you both say something new?”

Fine...

uh uh, uh huh
uh uh, uh uh,
uh huh, uh huh
uh uh, uh uh, uh uh, uh
uh huh, uh huh, uh huh..

You're in Trouble

When he got home
he walked into the kitchen
So hungry that his stomach hurt
There were cookies on the table,
sign that read
“Don’t touch, these are for dessert”
But he ate one,
then he ate another
He meant to put the rest away
But it wasn’t too long
before the cookies were gone
He heard a little voice
inside him say

CHORUS
You’re in trouble,
you’re in trouble,
you’re in trouble like you’ve never
been in trouble before
When they find out,
there is no doubt
You’re in trouble
like you’ve never been in trouble before

Well he’d never made cookies
but he thought that he could do it
He’d seen his mother do it before
Some flour and some sugar
there was really nothin' to it
‘Til he dropped the sugar jar
on the floor
He took some eggs and chocolate
and mixed it all together
He poured the goop onto the tray
His sister came in,
she broke into a grin
And this is what he heard her say

CHORUS

He turned the oven on
and he put the cookies in
He went to take a walk outside
He let’em cook an hour,
he walked back up the stairs
He pulled the door open wide
Smoke came pouring out,
the smoke alarm was screaming
The fire truck roared
down the street
His neighbor came over
with her dog named Rover
And said in a voice so sweet

CHORUS

When his parents came home,
they hit the roof
They didn’t think it was funny at all
He was stuck inside all weekend
Just cleaning out the oven
and washing down the kitchen walls
He always will remember,
he never will forget
When ever something seems
to go wrong
There’s always someone
there to tell ya,
someone there to yell at ya,
someone there to sing you this song

CHORUS

Standing in the valley where the river runs
Warmed by the light of the morning sun
I open up my mouth and I start to sing
My voice comes back and the mountains ring

Hello
Yoo hoo
Echo
Is that you?
Can you hear me
Call you?
Echo
Yoo hoo

Singing out loud when no one’s there
Might seem kind of silly but I don’t care
When I hear my voice come back again
Sometimes it seems I’m singing to my best friend

Hello
Yoo hoo
Echo
What’s new?
Sunshine
Nice day
I’m fine
Okay

Spoken:
Hello
Hey you
Stop yelling
Right now
I mean it
Very funny
Ha ha ha
Aroooo

Sun sinks low and then goes down
This old world keeps a turning round
Sky grows dark and the stars all shine
And I call out to that friend of mine

Hello
Yoo hoo
Echo
Day’s through
Starlight
Moonbeams
Echo
Sweet dreams
Echo
Sweet dreams

Spoken:
Good night
Go to bed
Right now
I mean it
I don’t wanna come up there
Please
All right (Okay)
(Snoring)
