Dear Bill Harley,

Congratulations on your book, Charlie Bumpers vs.The Teacher of the Year, winning the 2016 Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award.!

After reading a total of six nominated 2015-2016 BCCCA books, students voted for their favorite and your book was the hands-down winner!  Yesterday, on Beverly Cleary's 100th birthday, I announced that your book was the winner!

On behalf of the children of Oregon, Washington and Montana, and the Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award (BCCCA) Committee, we are very thrilled that you have won.

I have a plaque to celebrate this honor that I would like to mail to you, so please send me your home address or PO Box.

Sincerely, Libby Hamler-Dupras

I am honored and touched to receive the Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award. Growing up, Henry, Ribsy, Ramona and Beezus were an important part of my life. And truly, Beverly Cleary's writing was the model for Charlie and his own adventures - a good kid inadvertently getting into trouble and facing the challenges of growing up. Charlie is Beverly's grandkid. The award means a great deal to me. Please let the people on the committee know how much this means to me.

Sincerely,

Bill Harley

And, to all of you who are reading or listening to Charlie Bumpers - THANK YOU!!  WOO HOO!! (and boogers too).
