“Come on out and play with me
Come on out, now, can’t you see
The full moon will shine till the light of day?
So come on out and play, come on out and play.”
Adorable tale of a young bear that wants to have a party with the moon. Great bedtime story for any youngster.

About this Story
On the night of the full moon, Bear wants to celebrate, but none of his friends are interested. The birds want to sleep. Porcupine doesn’t get the point. Moose thinks it just won’t work. But their lack of interest doesn’t stop Bear. Undaunted, he distributes invitations, sweeps the clearing, prepares the food, and rests up for his party, even if it’s going to be a party of one. Fortunately, it doesn’t take long for his music and song to draw in a hesitant Dad Fox with his brood of fox cubs. By the time the moon rises, all of the animals, birds, and insects from the field and forest are singing and dancing under a full moon.

Reviews
A good story with a moral lesson: Do what you believe in, follow your own dreams in spite of what others may say. If you "start the party" you may be pleasantly surprised that others may follow.

…is a story about "Bear", who wants to party when no one else does. Despite his friends telling him it’s a bad idea, Bear plans a wonderful party. He sings a cute song throughout the book that young children will enjoy and want to sing along with. The theme of "you never know what might happen" shines at the end when the moon speaks to all Bear’s reluctant friends. The illustrations give a dreamy feeling, soft and large, demonstrating all of the party fun.
